DeskQUERY™ wins plaudits at national FM awards

Excel’s innovative DeskQUERY™ desk and workspace optimisation toolkit has been praised as ‘fantastic’ by judges at the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Awards 2013.

DeskQUERY™ was highly commended in the Excellence in Product Development category at the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Monday night.

Judges praised DeskQUERY™ as “an innovative software solution which represents a completely new approach to real estate optimisation and space management.”

They added: “This is a fantastic application allowing companies to achieve accurate real-time information on usage and occupancy efficiency in their real estate in a single, standalone, easy to use and affordable package.”


The Excellence in Product Development award recognises innovation in facilities management which delivers a positive impact in the workspace, embracing everything from complex technology-based systems through to simple physical products. The judges look for innovation, enthusiasm and customer focus.

The winner of the BIFM 2013 award was the energy monitoring application, EMAP, from GSH Group, with DeskQUERY™ from Excel being the highly commended runner-up.

The other finalists were Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ATOM Transport Management), Nu-phalt Contracting Ltd (Thermal Recycling Pothole Repair System), and Savortex Ltd (Smart Drying).
